Brand New Course... a 6 week Yoga course for beginners. This course will introduce you to the various elements of a yoga practice so that by the end of the course you’ll feel confident enough to attend any of our scheduled yoga classes.

Each week will allow some time for reflection on the previous week’s learnings and questions that may have arisen.

The course outline

Week One

  • An introduction to what Yoga is, the history, the lineage and the benefits of a regular practice
  • Learn some basic asanas (postures)
  • You will enjoy a guided meditation and breathing exercise (Pranayama)
  • Final relaxation (Savasana)

Week Two

  • We refresh on week one and practice more basic asanas
  • Introduction to the standing poses
  • Guided meditation & Pranayama
  • Savasana

Week Three

  • Refresh on weeks one & two
  • Look into the basic seated postures (asanas)
  • Guided meditation & Pranayama
  • Savasana

Week Four

  • Learn basic sun salutations
  • Refresh on previous weeks and begin to build core strength through weaving the seated poses together
  • Begin to experience back-bending and going upside down (inversions)
  • Guided meditation & Pranayama
  • Savasana

Week Five

  • Knitting it all together into a full yoga sequence

Week Six

  • A full lead Yoga class consisting of all the poses and sequences you’ve learned.

Who is it for?

  • Complete beginners, especially those who want an introduction to a flowing yoga practice in order to feel confident attending other classes
  • Some level of fitness required as this is a strong and sweaty class
  • Perfect if you have attended other yoga classes but are looking for a refresher or a deeper understanding of yoga

Who is it not for?

  • Anyone who can’t commit to the full 6 weeks – as it’s a progressive course, attendance at every session is required
  • Those who already have a regular yoga practice, as this is very much a beginner course
  • Although some injuries or conditions can be worked around, the aim of this class is to build strength and increase flexibility so get in touch with Zoe if you want to discuss your specific issues.
